Music Ministry Coordinator

TITLE: Music Ministry Coordinator  

PURPOSE: The Music Ministry Coordinator’s responsibility is to build, coordinate, and administer an effective, well-rounded music ministry program to enhance the worship experience and support the people involved in music ministry.   

VISION FOR THE POSITION:

The Music Ministry Coordinator will have the skill, heart, and passion for planning, coordinating, and leading worship ensembles in providing an authentic and God-honoring time of worship as we continue to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of traditional sacred music 

  • Bachelor's degree in music and/or five years of related experience preferred 

  • Experience in choral direction and handbell direction 

  • Skills for leading congregational singing 

  • Solo performance experience 

  • Ability to perform and lead various styles of music 

  • Leadership ability, ability to work with and inspire volunteers 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a cohesive music ministry program that fosters a culture of unity, friendship, and fellowship. 

  • Collaborate with other staff and ministries to enhance the role of music in the overall life of the church. 

  • Lead efforts that extend the ministry of music as a source of hope, love, and encouragement in the community. 

  • Continue to build and strengthen existing music ministry opportunities. 

  • Create new opportunities for the congregation to share their musical gifts and talents. 

  • Plan and implement music for Sunday worship and special services after consulting with Senior Pastor regarding the worship themes. 

  • Coordinate with all musical ensembles, including praise bands, to establish a comprehensive program. 

  • Recruit, train, and rehearse with the Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir team members. 

  • Serve as primary song leader for Traditional Worship Services. 

  • Contract with individual musicians, both from within the church and the community, to provide special music as necessary. 

  • Facilitate worship planning meetings and participates in staff meetings. 

  • Other duties as assigned 

HOURS: 20-25 hours per week, including most Sundays and evenings for rehearsals and meetings. 

COMPENSATION: $25,000-$28,000 

ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports directly to the Senior Pastor
