UMCOR Heath Kits

It is that time of the year again, when we begin to collect items for the UMCOR Health Kits. There have been a few slight changes in the kits, plus we have decided to try to use up some of our supply of items and set a goal for how many kits we would like to complete this year.

Here is what we are going to need this year to complete 250 Kits:

  • Hand Towels 220

  • Washcloths 73

  • Combs (Need to have at least 6 inches of teeth) 201

  • Toenail or Finger nail clippers (No emery boards or metal files) 250

  • Bath Soap (3 oz or larger, No Ivory or Jergens) 86 bars

  • Adult Toothbrushes 66

  • Band-aids ( 3/4 “ x 3”) 250

These items can be dropped off in the church office.

Once we have filled 250 Kits we will set another goal. Thanks for considering this hands-on project that will help people who do not have the basic necessities of life.

Raising funds for 2018 Puerto Rico mission trip

We are selling Fly Boy gift cards for coffee and donuts to raise money for our Puerto Rico mission trip next summer.

  • 12 oz. coffee (whole or ground) $14/bag
  • 24 k-cups- $20

  • Dozen glazed- $10
  • Dozen assorted (donuts, long johns, bismarks)- $14
  • Flyboy dozen- (assortment including 4 specialty items)- $18

AND…to go along with the coffee and donuts- get ceramic mugs for $10 or a travel tumblers for $20.  The mugs are a great reminder-while you drink that morning coffee- to pray for Puerto Rico and the group going there this summer on a mission trip!  They would make great Christmas gifts.

This mission trip to Puerto Rico is going to be a great experience.  There will be a lot of work to do!  To make it possible for us all to get there, fundraising is important.  We can take up to 60 people this June 30th -July 6th.  This is going to cost about $85,000 (depending on the cost of flights-still being worked out).  Support for this trip is critical.  We need your prayers, encouragement and financial support to make this trip be the life-changing trip that it can be!

Nightwatch Update

The Nightwatch is making a huge difference in Sioux Falls.  We are feeding between 1 and 2 hundred people each Sunday evening with the other area Methodist churches.  Each and every Sunday you (First Church family) are serving 50 men, women and children here in our parking lot.

Not only to we satisfy the immediate need of food but we offer a friendly ear and conversation.  We invite everyone to worship with us, many take us up on it.  Thank you for making everyone feel welcome.

On several occations we distribut clothing, blankets, and devotional booklets.  The key to being able to distribute more then just food is YOU.  We need you to join our team and help set up and distribute these items.  It would also be great if you could coordinate the collectuon of these items.  If you would like to learn more about this opportinity please contact me Tami Prostrollo

Remember we serve breakfast every Sunday .  Our next opportunity to serve dinner is July 16 join us!
