Nightwatch Ministry: Serving Hope, One Meal at a Time
Since 2007, First Church has been committed to meeting a critical need in our community by providing evening meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity. What began as a bi-monthly meal service in downtown Sioux Falls and our west-side parking lot was inspired by a simple but urgent reality: on Sunday nights, when The Banquet was not serving meals, many people had nowhere else to turn.
As the need continued to grow, so did the ministry. Nightwatch expanded its outreach to the west side of Sioux Falls, partnering with Hayward Elementary School to provide meals on Monday evenings. Recognizing the increasing number of children and families in need, First Church answered the call and made a lasting commitment to serve a meal at this location every month.
Today, thanks to the generosity of donors and the dedication of volunteers, First Church provides approximately 200 meals each month to children and families in the Hayward community. On the first Monday of every month, our team is there without fail, regardless of rain, snow, or extreme temperatures, ensuring that neighbors in need receive not only a nutritious meal but also care, dignity, and a sense of community.
Your support makes this ministry possible. Every donation helps provide warm meals, welcome faces, and hope for families who may be struggling. Together, we can continue to meet this need and remind our neighbors that they are seen, valued, and not alone.
A gift today helps put food on the table and hope in the hearts of local families.
