"The Leopard Library provides library and media resources and encourages and supports the use of these materials for faith and intellectual growth"

One of the first things you will notice when you enter the main entrance here at First Church is the Leopard Library. This magnificent library was made possible by the generous gift from Mr & Mrs Leopard, long time members here at First Untied Methodist Church. Our gratitude goes out to their family.

Mrs Leopard was an advocate of early childhood reading, it is our desire to continue her legacy by encouraging and promoting reading skills not only with our tutoring program for those enrolled in our Kidstop after school program but by opening our resources to the entire community.

One resource we are extremely proud to offer is free WiFi and 2 fully equipped computer workstations for everyone’s use with ample places to pug in devices to charge.

The library includes more than 3000 pieces in the collection. You will find both fiction and non-fiction for children, young adults and adult readers. The non-fiction follows the traditional Dewey Decimal classification where the fiction is classified by authors last name. The children’s section is classified the same way with children’s fiction broken down to early childhood and school age. Our biographies are classified by subject matter instead of author. We also have a small collection of South Dakota authors as well as some large print materials.

All you need to do to check out a book is complete a library card.  We have three weeks check out period.

The Library has an annual Usborne Book fair the benefits the children and youth every November during the annual Turkey collects books for Lowell Elementary Read Across America and for the annual For the Love of Reading Book sale in February.

We are happy to accept book donations that are in good condition.  Books that are donated are left to the discretion of library staff and volunteers  and become property of the Leopard Library to be used as they deem appropriate.
