Summary: The game of baseball is a popular sport in the United States with many people rooting on their favorite team throughout the summer and into the fall. Moreover, many people grow up playing baseball or softball as kids. It brings together people across different backgrounds and cultures, and it can somehow produce both joy and anguish, depending on the game. Yet there are also aspects of baseball that speak to our faith. Looking at faith through the lens of baseball can yield us important perspectives in how to live a life of faith in our current times with its distractions, stress, and unrest. In the batter’s box, and in faith, we can decide how we choose to proceed, which affects not only ourselves but others around us, too.
