| Elizabeth Ministry/New Baby Ministry. | ||
|
Description:
Visit, befriend and support women of child-bearing years at the time of pregnancy, birth, adoption, birth complication, miscarriage, infertility or infant illness. Assignments are based on the Elizabeth Minister's past experiences with childbearing (i.e. adoption). The Parish Nurse gives the Elizabeth Ministers the name, telephone number, address and situational information for the family. The Elizabeth Minister sets up a 10-15 minute visit to share their Christian love and form a supportive relationship for this woman/family within the church. In celebration of new babies they bring a prayer book or Christian CD, a donated baby quilt or blanket, keepsake prayer, baptismal and nursery information and a Parish Nurse brochure. In difficult times, the Elizabeth Minister may share her own "story" or experiences with a woman and work with the Parish Nurse to provide support resources such as books, support groups, etc. The Elizabeth Minister fills out a response card and returns it to the Parish Nurse reporting and follow-up necessary. Mission Connection: Outreach to young families in our congregation and attendence. Inviting and welcoming parents and their child to become involved through attendence and baptism. Pastoral and supportive care - empowering women of child-bearing years to be healthy in body, mind, and spirit. Church Contact person: Nancy Cutshall, Parish Nurse, 336-3652 |
