Since its earliest beginnings in 1871, the First United Methodist Church of Sioux Falls has been a source of light and inspiration on the Northern Plains. For over a century, the First United Methodist Church has been committed to its mission of being an inclusive fellowship that helps people grow spiritually and reaches out to those in need. The First United Methodist Church Foundation was created in 1979 to provide financial resources to this congregation for the purpose of opening doors for future ministries so the church can continue its vital role in the community, the Northern Plains and the world. The First United Methodist Church Foundation is a non-profit corporation created to receive permanent gifts to the church. The principal of these gifts is invested, and the earnings provide funds for ministries beyond the annual budget of the church. People who gift the Foundation are making a commitment to the future ministries of First United Methodist Church and become Friends of the Foundation. Friends of the Foundation are vital to the church because their gifts:
